Julia Galloway is a utilitarian potter and Professor of Art at the University of Montana. She has exhibited widely across the United States, Canada, and Asia, and her work is in major museum and private collections. Galloway is interested in all aspects in the field of the ceramic arts, from making pottery, jurying exhibitions, studying ceramics from other cultures, writing about pottery and service to emerging artists. She is known for her keen interest in historical pottery and is one of few that teaches studio ceramics and History of Pottery classes. Julia is dedicated to education, whether on a traditional college campus, a crafts school or local arts center; she has taught more than 250 workshops, demonstrations and lectures. In addition, she has developed and maintains several service-based educational websites, including “Montana Clay,” “Field Guide for Ceramic Artisans,” “Library of Cups,” and “Random Acts of Clay.”
