The Silver City CLAY Festival’s International Juried Exhibition, A Tile & A Vessel, requires that each entry consist of two clay components: one, the artist’s interpretation of a vessel, and one, the artist’s interpretation of a tile. They must relate to each other in design and/or function. The pairing may exist as separate parts or as one physically integrated piece; however, each submitted pairing will be juried and sold as one work.
The entry submission and fee deadline is June 16, 2017.
About the juror: Born in the border town of Palomas, Chihuahua, Diego Valles has been expanding the limits of both Mata Ortiz and traditional Mexican ceramics ever since he relocated to Mata Ortiz. Valles will be the juror for this year's International Juried Exhibition, A Tile & A Vessel. Diego Valles was awarded the 1st Place Tad Van der Weele Memorial Award for his work Pieces of Me during the 2014 A Tile & A Vessel exhibition.
