CLAYFest is excited to offer its first-ever Entrepreneurship for Creatives Workshop Series. Sessions cover marketing, finances and business plans. Several successful clay entrepreneurs, as well as representatives from the Small Business Development Center, the Western New Mexico School of Business, and the marketing-for-creatives consulting firm Calindo Creative are on board. The deadlines for juried exhibition entries as well as for early-bird market vendor booth pricing have been extended, and now both forms are available online. The CLAY Festival Market draws more than 2,500 people and is a great family-friendly event. This year's juried Market will be Saturday, July 21, 2018. For more information, download the application.

The opening CLAY Festival Farm-To-Table Fundraiser held on July 22nd was a successful sold-out event. It was a truly local, grass-roots meal that honored the connection that the food we eat has to the earth, mud, dirt, and CLAY; it also honored connections within the Silver City community and New Mexico.
The elegant dinner featured Gruet Winery with Operations Manager, Michael Dominguez, making a trip from Albuquerque to attend the dinner and pair Gruet wine with each course. Jean-Robert Be’ffort of A-Space Studio Art Gallery won the prize for best ceramic place setting, which included a farm-to-table themed gift basket donated by Single Socks, a Coach Massage Gift Certificate, and a hand-made silver pendant made by local jeweler Juan Velasco.
The meal was prepared using locally grown food from Silver City Farmer's Market vendors and was prepared by local chefs from Brazzas Grill, Shevek’s Casual Restaurant, Diane’s Restaurant, Revel, Tapas Tree Grill, La Bonita Bakery, and Bad Ass Bakery. Local teens participating in a summer youth internship program through the Volunteer Center, Rooted, grew greens that were used in the salad and harvested the nopales used in another dish. Youths in the Community Youth Building Program attended two trainings in food service to serve at this special event.
The funds raised will help support the CLAY Festival in its efforts to foster an entrepreneurial spirit that engages local businesses, artists, and the global community in a unified enthusiasm for CLAY leading to rural economic sustainability. CLAY Festival is donating $1000 to the Volunteer Center's Food Bank and $500 to the Silver City Farmer's Market.

Virus Theater returns this summer with William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, starring the Silver City community! Once again, fantastical director Teresa Dahl-Bredine will dazzle you with her extraordinary flair for theatrical adventure.
Shakespeare’s comedy aims to enthrall you with love and folly! In traditional Virus Theater style, don’t be surprised if you are entertained beyond your wildest dreams in this wedding of all weddings extravaganza! Our fairy kingdom stars eleven of Silver City’s children and a beautiful fairy queen, not to mention a fairy trickster or two that may titillate us all. Kick back and watch the players give you a hilarious version of this play within a play and, of course, the lovers and all of their woes. Costumes by well-known artist Cecilia Stanford will leave you breathless!
To top it all off, all shows will be at the downtown El Sol Theater at 406 North Bullard Street!
We welcome audiences to our preview shows on Wednesday and Thursday, July 26th and 27th, 2017, for which tickets will be $8.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream Grand Premiere night will be at the El Sol Theater on Friday, July 28, 2017. This will be a special night with refreshments, a theater tour, and conversations with the cast and director. A RSVP is required for this event, for which there is also a suggested donation of $50. RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than July 26th.
Shows to follow will be on July 29 and 30, and August 3, 4, 5, and 6, for which tickets will be $10. All shows begin at 7:30pm
