In Keeping with this years CLAY Festival theme of farm-to-table, local artist Zoe Wolfe will be offering a workshop in the making of ceramic pots specific for making kim chee: a fermented vegetable dish. This is a product oriented workshop in which each participant will hand build a kim chee pot: including stone and cover. Part 1: Handbuilding offered on Monday, July 24 will cover slab rolling, forming, and use of molds and patterns for construction.
Zoe will bisque fire the pots during the week of CLAY and is included in cost. Part 2: Glazing will focus on glazing the kim chee pots and will be offered on Friday, July 28th. The morning will start with a demo / discussion on the preparation of kim chee facilitated by Sharon Bookwater including recipes, demonstration and tastes! Then you can glaze your pot in individual patterns and colors, to be fired once again and sealing the pot for functionality. The pots will be ready for pick up on Sunday morning, July 30th.
