In this 5-day workshop, Drawing/Painting on Clay: Line, Color, Imagery, Bede Clarke will encourage students to explore either hand-building or wheel techniques. The course will focus on drawing and painting on clay, and so, this class would be suitable for experienced drawing /painting students with little to no clay experience who are interested in hand-building. (Students interested in the wheel throwing portion will require prior experience).
Bede Clarke has been a Professor of Art at the University of Missouri since 1992. He received his Master of Fine Arts from The University of Iowa (1990) and a BFA from Eckerd College (1982). Bede’s work is found in collections in the U.S. and abroad, such as the: University of Northern Arizona, Ichon World Ceramic Center, Racine Art Museum, Bermuda National Gallery and Martin Museum of Art.
The workshop will take place July 24-28, Monday-Friday, from 9am-5pm. The CLAY Festival is partnering with Western New Mexico University to offer this workshop as a 2-credit college course! It is also open to participants who do not need college credit.
