The Blue Dome Gallery Downtown in Silver City, New Mexico, is sponsoring an International Juried Ceramic Exhibition titled, Beakers, Cups, and Mugs: The Art of Drinking 2016, in partnership with the Silver City CLAY Festival, CLAY 2016: From Oaxaca to Santa Fe,.
All representations and interpretations of beakers, cups, mugs, or other drinking associated vessels qualify for submission. Each artist is allowed a maximum of three entries. Each entry may consist of a single vessel OR a set with a maximum of 6 pieces. Submitted artworks may be either functional or sculptural. No single entry may weigh more than 70 pounds. Artworks must have been completed within the last two years.
The Exhibition is open to all artists 18 years and older residing in the United States and Mexico. All work must be for sale and present for the duration of the Exhibition and Blue Dome Gallery will retain 50% of any sales.
The Exhibition will be juried by Heidi Preuss Grew and the Blue Dome Gallery through digital images of artworks, submitted online. Submit images online via the Entry Form below. Upon acceptance by the juror, a $30 hanging fee will be required for each entry into the Exhibition. A fee is not required at the time of submission.
The artist is responsible for the shipping and insurance of the work to and from the Blue Dome Gallery; hand delivery and pick up are also acceptable. Shipped works must be sent in an easily reusable container/packaging and include prepaid return shipping. The Blue Dome Gallery will insure submitted works for the duration of the Exhibition.
Heidi Preuss Grew has over twenty years of international professional experience working as an artist and educator. She earned three degrees from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana in Art History, Germanic Languages and Literature, and Crafts. She completed her MFA at Ohio University in Athens and served as a Professor of Art at Willamette University from 1999 to 2014.
Grew has been featured in numerous solo and group Exhibitions in the United States, Asia, and Europe. She is a recipient of a Lighton International Artist Exchange Program Grant, two Oregon Arts Commission Artist Fellowships and was honored in 2007 with election into the International Academy of Ceramics. Her work won First Prize in the 2013 International Ceramics Biennial in Aveiro, Portugal. She currently resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
